Interior or Full Detail: Which Do You Actually Need?

The short version

The Sudz Quick Clean is interior only: vacuum, vinyl, rubber and plastic treatment, spot stain removal, door jambs and glass. It is $135 for cars and $150 for SUVs and trucks.

The Sudz Up VIP Clean is all of that plus the exterior: hand wash, polish, wheels cleaned and tires shined. It is $200 for cars and $250 for SUVs and trucks.

The $65 to $100 difference buys the entire exterior treatment. Whether that is worth it depends almost entirely on the condition of your paint, not on the condition of your interior.

Book the interior-only service when...

The paint is genuinely in good shape and you wash the car regularly yourself. If you hand wash every couple of weeks, the polish step is not doing much for you.

The vehicle is nearly new. Paint under two years old that has been looked after does not usually need the polish, and the interior is where you will notice the difference.

Your problem is specifically an interior problem — a smell, a spill, kids, pets, or a car that has never been properly vacuumed. Spending on the exterior does not address any of that.

You are on a budget and have to choose. The interior is where you spend your time, so that is where the money produces the daily benefit.

Book the full detail when...

You are selling the vehicle. This is the clearest case there is. Listing photographs need both, and the money comes back several times over in a private sale.

You are coming out of winter. Salt has been in the jambs, arches and rockers for months. Cleaning only the interior leaves the corrosive half untouched, which is the half that costs real money later.

It has been over a year. There is exterior contamination by that point that a normal wash will not shift, and the polish step is genuinely working rather than just adding shine.

The paint has gone dull. If your car looks flat and lifeless compared to when you bought it, that is usually accumulated film and light oxidation rather than faded paint, and it responds dramatically well.

You are driving a distance to reach us. If you are coming from Kewaskum, West Bend or Germantown, splitting the work across two visits wastes your time.

What the exterior step actually buys you

It is worth being specific, because 'wash and polish' sounds like something you could do in a driveway.

The hand wash uses a rinse-first sequence and clean media, working dirtiest areas last, so grit is not dragged across paint. This is the difference between washing a car and swirling a car, and it shows most on dark colours.

The polish removes light surface contamination and leaves a uniform protected finish. It does not remove deep scratches, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it does very well is restore a finish dulled by road film, pollen and organic deposit.

Wheels and arches get proper attention, which matters far more in this climate than the shine on the roof does. Brake dust embeds into wheel finish and pits it if left across a winter.

The honest recommendation

If you are unsure, call and describe the vehicle. We would rather talk you into the cheaper package and have you come back than sell you the expensive one once.

A useful test you can do yourself: wash the car, let it dry, then look down the side of a panel at a shallow angle in direct sunlight. If the reflection is sharp, the paint is fine and you want the interior service. If the reflection is hazy and soft, the polish will do real work and the full detail is worth it.
