Private ramps and boathouse parking

Most lakefront properties here have their own ramp or dock, and that changes the summer pattern. Instead of a weekend trip to a public ramp, the tow vehicle backs into the lake from home, often several times a week, and it does so on hot afternoons when the rear panels have been in the sun.

Lake water flashing off hot paint leaves mineral rings and algae film in the pattern of the splash, every time. On a vehicle that ramps from its own drive through a whole season, the rear end carries more bonded lake mineral than any public-ramp vehicle we see. Parking at the boathouse, by the water, adds the dew and spray that keep the paint damp for the hours when that spotting bonds.

The lakefront cabin

A vehicle that lives at the water is loaded at the water. Wet gear goes straight from the dock into the boot; swimsuits and towels go straight from the lake onto the seats; sunscreen goes onto every surface a hand touches. It is the Lake Country interior profile at higher frequency, and light leather in particular takes the sunscreen damage that does not clean out once the oil is in the topcoat.
