Collector garages

Large lots and large homes mean large garages, and River Hills garages hold seasonal and collector vehicles at a rate we see nowhere else in our area. Those vehicles have a specific set of needs that a standard detail does not address and can actively damage.

Older paint — single-stage, or early clear coat — has different thickness and hardness from a modern finish and has to be assessed before anything abrasive touches it. Period leather and vinyl need period-appropriate care. And a car that spends five months in storage every year needs to go in clean and protected, or it comes out in April with damage that happened in the dark. Our storage guide covers why.

Wooded five-acre drives

Every River Hills trip starts and ends on a long private drive through mature woodland. Sap, frass, honeydew and tannin land on paint that sits in shade, and shade is what keeps it damp long enough for all of that to bond. Gravel and crushed-stone drives throw pale dust; sealed asphalt drives transfer sealant. It is the canopy profile at estate scale.

Equestrian properties add hay that travels on air, arena footing that goes deep into carpet, and manure on boots that is a biological problem rather than a stain — the same list as the horse vehicles we see from New Berlin's south side.

Forty-five minutes, and what justifies it

River Hills is at the far edge of where we go, and it has competent detailers considerably closer. The drive makes sense for what they are less likely to do: multi-day correction on a collector finish assessed under inspection light, coating with a real cure, storage prep in November, and the honest conversation about what an older finish can and cannot take.

For a wash and a vacuum, stay local. For the car you would not let a volume shop touch, that is the work we take one vehicle at a time.
