The walk to the car

A client meeting a professional at their vehicle sees the paint first, from a few metres away, usually in a surface lot in daylight. Direct sun on a bonnet at that distance shows swirl marring immediately — a haze around the reflection, a spiderweb under the light — and it reads, fairly or not, as a car that is not looked after.

The irony is that client-facing vehicles are usually washed more often than average, not less, and frequent washing is where the marring comes from. A car run through a brush wash twice a week for the sake of appearances accumulates damage twice as fast as one washed weekly, and the appearance it was meant to protect is the thing that suffers.

What correction does for this specific vehicle

Wash marring is shallow, which makes it the most correctable kind of paint damage there is. A single-stage correction on a client vehicle typically recovers the great majority of the gloss in one session, and the difference from the walk-to-the-car distance is total: the haze goes, the reflection sharpens, and the car reads as new.

We assess under inspection light first, because daylight hides most defects and a lot of client vehicles have had previous correction done at a dealer or a volume shop. Clear coat is finite, and knowing how much has already been removed determines how aggressive it is safe to be.

Keeping it that way

Correction on a vehicle that goes back to twice-weekly brush washing is a year's reprieve. The pattern rebuilds.

The practical answer for a client vehicle is correction followed by a ceramic coating, because the coating changes what the wash routine has to be. A coated surface releases dirt with a rinse and a touchless pass, which keeps the car presentable between proper washes without dragging anything across the paint. For a vehicle whose appearance is part of the job, that is the combination that holds.

The interior matters just as much on these, and for the same reason: the passenger seat is where the client sits.
