Paint Correction for Saukville, Wisconsin

Iron removal takes the particles out of a Saukville car's clear coat. It does not take out the holes they left. That is a different job.

What is left after the iron is gone

Industrial fallout embeds in clear coat and rusts in place, and as it rusts it expands and opens a tiny pit around itself. Chemical iron removal dissolves the particle. The pit stays.

On a vehicle that has lived in the village for years, that leaves a bonnet and roof with thousands of microscopic pits across them — each too small to see individually, together enough to scatter light and make the paint look flat and slightly grainy even after decontamination has made it clean and smooth to the touch. Owners are often surprised the car looks better but not right. This is why.

Levelling, and how much is safe

Correction on a pitted panel is levelling: a machine polisher and a compound remove a controlled few microns of clear coat so the surface is brought down to the base of the pitting and reflects uniformly again.

The depth of the pitting decides how much that takes and whether it is safe. Light fallout pitting is shallow and a single-stage correction levels it fully. Years of heavy fallout can pit deeper than it is safe to remove on a factory clear coat, in which case the honest outcome is major improvement rather than a perfect surface, and we will say so under the inspection light before starting.

That inspection is also where previous correction shows. A panel that has been polished before has less clear coat to work with, and on a Saukville car that matters more than usual because the pitting means there is more to remove.

Then protect it, or repeat it

A corrected, unprotected panel in the village starts collecting new fallout the next morning. Correction is finite — every pass removes clear coat that does not come back — so repeating it every couple of years is not a strategy.

The sequence that holds is decontamination, correction, then a coating, so the next particle sits on the coating instead of embedding in the clear coat. On a Saukville vehicle that is the only version of the job worth doing.

Frequently asked questions

The pits the particles left are still there. Each rusting particle opened a tiny pit around itself, and thousands of them scatter light. Correction levels the surface; iron removal cannot.
Light pitting, yes, with a single-stage correction. Years of heavy fallout can pit deeper than it is safe to remove, and the honest outcome is major improvement rather than perfection. We assess depth under inspection light first.
On a vehicle that lives in the village, yes. Correction is finite and a bare corrected panel starts collecting fallout the next morning. The coating is what stops the cycle.
